NCNEAN 2017 Collective #1 Berry Bros. & Rudd

Founded by Annabel Thomas and opened in 2017, Nc'nean has become Scotland's first carbon-neutral distillery. The distillery uses 100% organic barley and uses its own forest to power a biomass boiler. Few other distilleries can claim to be at the forefront of environmental ethics in distilling with the same passion as Nc'nean.

Luscious green fruit aromas rise from the glass with lively notes of pear, wine gum and tinned pineapple emerging over time. The palate shows more weight with an excellent balance between fresh orchard fruit and some tropicality from fermentation. A wave of marzipan and coconut emerges when water is added. This is a wonderfully distinctive Highland dram that has a lot to say, both inside and outside the glass.

The Collective's first series, The Pioneers, looks at the pioneers of sustainable and eco-responsible distilling. A selection of ten bottlings, ranging from Irish single pot stills to Tasmanian single rye, The Pioneers series is a real tribute to distillers who care about the future of the planet.
