Single Malt

Single malt is a malt whisky produced by one malt whisky distillery. The name of the distillery features on the label, such as: Yoichi, The Macallan, Bushmills, Glenkinchie, Laphroaig, or Yamazaki. There are normally as many single malts as there are distilleries open (or closed that still have stock that is maturing).

A distillery can create as many different expressions of its single malt as it likes. Most offer a range of between three and five. Some produce as many as twenty, which usually involves numerous special bottlings.
