This Mortlach bourbon hogshead refill cask was filled in 2007, aged for 16 years and bottled at 48.5% abv. It is a perfect example of Mortlach: rich, full-bodied, waxy and naturally sweet, showcasing the distillery's well-known bold distillate.

Decadent Drinks is an independent bottler of whisky and other spirits. Angus MacRaild - also author of the WhiskySponge blog - is the founder. Its philosophy is quality, fun and not taking life too seriously. This quirky side is reflected both in his blog and on the labels of his bottlings, which feature the sponge character in a variety of situations. These bottlings, mostly single casks, are divided into different brands such as the Spongeverse, Equinox & Solstice and Equilibrium. The Spongeverse includes WhiskySponge, RumSponge, CognacSponge, ArmagnacSponge and WineSponge.

Nose : Waxes, oils, cereals and buttery notes combine with baked apple, starched fabrics and nicely fatty olive oil touches. Very easy and rich and full of the raw, malty ingredients.

Palate : Classic full-bodied Mortlach goodness! Lots of oily sweetness and waxes balanced by green and yellow fruits and cereals.

Overall : Long, warming, peppery, cereal and full of more green fruits with some floral notes.
