Tale of Tokyo was born out of Dr Bill Lumdsen's obsession with Japanese culture, fashion and food. As a city full of contradictions but also multi-dimensional, Dr Bill Lumdsen was inspired by Tokyo to craft a whisky that was "unique and enigmatic". After ten years of research, Dr Bill finally managed to source casks made from one of Japan's most sought-after trees: Mizunara oak.
Aged in Bourbon casks, then in sherry casks and finally in Mizunara casks, Tale of Tokyo is antinomic and surprising.

What is Mizunara oak (水楢)?
It's a type of oak used to make casks, like American or European oak. Its intrinsic qualities and the aromas it imparts are highly recognisable to fans of Japanese whiskies.
