GLENGLASSAUGH 49 ans #639 Pedro Ximénez Puncheon

Since 1875, the Glenglassaugh distillery has stood quietly on the edge of picturesque Sandend Bay, breathing in the North Sea air that flows through its cellars and imbues the sweet Highland distillate with marine notes. Silent for over 20 years, the distillery was reactivated in 2008 and its stills brought back to life. A rare collection of old casks was unearthed from the coastal warehouses before the distillery went silent in 1986.

These forgotten whiskies can now be enjoyed as part of the Old & Rare cask series. This 1973 Glenglassaugh 49 Year Old from cask #639 is one of their most precious jewels, and will forever remain the only Old & Rare specially selected for the French market. Glenglassaugh's rare casks are a discovery to be made, as each single cask tells its own story. All these rare single malt Scotch whiskies are bottled without chill filtration, to preserve their natural character and the colour resulting from slow maturation by the North Sea.
