Cocchi Americano is a flavored wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and has been produced continuously since then according to the original recipe. The name "Americano" refers to both the alcohol made bitter ("amaricato") by adding herbs and spices and the American custom of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Produced according to Giulio Cocchi's original recipe, Cocchi Americano is recognized in Asti as the quintessential aperitif—a true testament to the history of our city.

On its label, the original futuristic rooster designed in the 1930s represents its appetizing function ("it awakens the appetite") as well as being one of the symbols of the city of Asti. Throughout its history, Cocchi has produced some variations of its Aperitivo Americano. The most recent is Cocchi Rosa, produced from Piedmont red wines to which herbal and spice extracts, including gentian, quinine, citrus zest, and rose petals, are added.

The classic version is served in a cocktail glass with ice, a dash of soda, and a twist of pink grapefruit. The soda can be pleasantly replaced with ginger beer, lemon soda, or tonic. In its spritz version, Cocchi Rosa is combined with Brachetto wine and a twist of pink grapefruit or lemon, garnished with rosemary. It pairs particularly well with spirits such as gin, vodka, and mezcal. Cocchi Rosa is a perfect ingredient for the new trend of low-alcohol cocktails.
