3S 2014 OHISHI Sakura

The Ohishi distillery is now the largest of the small distilleries#P,& it produces over two hundred and fifty thousand litres of shōchū per year. Some of it is aged in brandy and then sherry casks. This blend produces a unique aromatic and taste balance. Ohishi broke the mould in the early 1970s by innovating: he began to age his shochu in oak barrels. He also innovated by using Ariake cooperage barrels from the time of its creation in 1976.

Located in the most upstream part of the Kuma-Shochu distilleries, the brewery uses the purest water. Due to the wide seasonal temperature variations, 3S Sakura Shochu 2011 is produced with high quality rice grown in the local rice fields. This authentic shochu made under these ideal conditions and in specially made casks from cherry trees in Kumamoto Prefecture will have sublime aromas reminiscent of cherry blossoms and an elegant taste.
