The name Yeun Elez comes from an ancient peat bog in the heart of the Armorique Natural Park, and the cradle of many Breton legends (such as that of Tadic Coz depicted on the pack).
The legend
Located in the Monts d'Arrée, in the heart of the Armorique Natural Park, Yeun Elez is a marsh considered in Breton legends to be the Gateway to Hell.
According to the legend recounted by Anatole le Braz, it was here that evil souls haunting the living were cast into hell. Tadic-Coz knew the secret and the ritual for locking up the souls of the departed in the body of a black dog. He entrusted young Jobic with guiding the dog to the gateway to the underworld. Jobic went from presbytery to presbytery, leading the black dog to the rector of Commana. Together, at sunset, they threw the black dog into the Yeun Elez marshes, condemning the revenant to the underworld.
Heavily Peated
Nose : Intensely aromatic, the peat is medicinal (camphor, cloves) but supported by fruity notes of bananas, baked peaches and pastry (cream pastry).
Appearance : Or pâle
Palate : Smoke envelops the palate, with citrus notes adding freshness. Roundness with a hint of saltiness.
Overall : A persistent, iodized and spicy finish, ending with a warm wood fire.
