SPRINGBANK 24 ans 1999 Whisky Sponge No.91 1st Fill Sherry Decadent Drinks

Founded in 1828, Springbank fell into the hands of the Mitchell family, to whom it still belongs. Springbank is one of the last Scottish distilleries to carry out the entire production process, from malting to bottling, on site. Renowned for the extreme quality of its sherry-flavoured bottlings, Springbank went through a period of decline in the 1980s which left an indelible mark on its stocks. Its style can be divided into two periods: until the end of the 90s, marked by sherry casks, and from the beginning of the 2000s, marked by bourbon casks.

As part of the Westie Spone range, this Springbank 1999 was aged for 24 years in a first-fill sherry cask in Campbeltown before being bottled at its natural strength of 54.5%.
The whisky has a rich, clear sherry character, with hints of nuts, leather and salt, but it never overpowers the Springbank distillery character, and the net result is a beautifully complex, well-dried mature Springbank, full of fresh coastal vigour, saltiness, tar, waxes and peat smoke in the background.
