SHENK'S Homestead Bourbon batch 2023

Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash whiskey pays tribute to the legacy of American whiskey legend John Shenk, who founded a distillery in 1753 that became known as Michter's in the 20th century. It is made in Kentucky using a traditional process known as the 'Sour Mash', whereby a portion of the previously distilled whiskey 'mash' is added to the next batch.

This whiskey of character is bottled at 91.2 proof (45.6%).

Shenk's is a Kentucky Sour Mash whiskey made with a significant amount of rye. The unique character of this 2023 edition comes from the fact that it is made with malted rye. What's more, it was matured in two different and rather special cask profiles: one part was aged in naturally air-dried wood for 18 months, which was toasted for a signature profile of toast and charcoal. The other part has been aged in French Vosges wood, air-dried for 24 months and specially toasted.
This is a whiskey with a warm, rich expression, with notes of spiced fruit, nougat, honey and dark chocolate.
