MOMBASA CLUB Gin

Nose : lively, striking. Liquorice and aniseed mingle with nutmeg and clove. This accounts for its thoroughly spiced character. Heady and balsamic (boiled sweets), it evolves into candied citrus fruits (lemon) and cardamom tea. A handful of flowers (peony, honeysuckle) provide the final flourish.

Palate : solid, restrained. With the opening on the palate, new citrus fruits (orange, mandarin) take over. The mid-palate is remarkably smooth, fruity (pear, plum) and spiced (cinnamon, fresh coriander). A beautiful, invigorating bitterness takes the taster on to the finish.

Overall : creamy, gourmand. Radiant, full of presence and maturity, one fruit overpowers them all: white grape. Its skin is coated in a fine layer of curry powder. The retronasal olfaction highlights a second fruit, melon, as well as floral notes (orange blossom). Once empty, the glass hints at saffron.
