LAPHROAIG 25 ans 1998 Symington's Choice Bourbon barrel Signatory Vintage

This 1998 Laphroaig was aged for 25 years in first-fill Bourbon casks before being bottled at its natural strength of 57.90%. This Islay single malt reveals a smoky, pastry-like profile with aromas of cigar, chocolate and liquorice.

Because of its phenolic character, Laphroaig enjoys a great reputation among connoisseurs. So it's hardly surprising that the distillery owns its own peat bog, capable of supplying it for the next 4,000 years. Laphroaig will never lose its character, and consequently its admirers and detractors, because a malt this peaty cannot be unanimously approved: even the water drawn from the source of Loch Kilbride is filtered by peat!
