It selects its Armagnacs primarily from producers who stopped distilling long ago, like this bottling made with Folle Blanche grapes at the Lous Pibous estate, which stopped its production in 2005.
With prune flavours and a delicate, grainy texture, the aroma and flavour palette enthusiastically showcases the power of the estate’s tawny sand terroir.
Nose : rich, deep. The aroma palette is at first sandy, tropical (mango, roasted pineapple) and medicinal (ointment), then moves serenely into a more empyreumatic sequence (prune, crème brûlée, orange jam). Allowed to breathe, geranium fragrances fill the air.
Appearance : Acajou.
Palate : firm, powerful. Unlike the nose, the flavour palette is milky (coconut, almond) and very spicy (nutmeg, black pepper), with liquorice. Over time, ripe banana, quince jelly and curry add more complexity and tension.
Overall : long, silky. Drawing out the palate, the finish lingers on candied fruit notes (apricot, pear). Then, with an infinitely delicate, rose petallike texture, the retro-nasal olfaction reveals enveloping fragrances of lime blossom.
