A superb 31-year-old Glen Grant, aged entirely in a second-fill cask. This type of example highlights the great flexibility of Glen Grant distillate. Distilled in 1993, it was aged for 31 years before being bottled at 52.7%.
Despite its age, this whisky remains remarkably fresh, fruity and vibrant, with a captivating balance of cereal, waxy and fruity notes. This is precisely the kind of cask Whiskyland was designed to showcase.
Decadent Drinks is an independent bottler of whisky and other spirits. Angus MacRaild - also author of the WhiskySponge blog - is the founder. Its philosophy is quality, fun and not taking life too seriously. This quirky side is reflected both in his blog and on the labels of his bottlings, which feature the sponge character in a wide variety of ways.
These bottlings, mostly single casks, are divided into different brands such as the Spongeverse, Equinox & Solstice, Equilibrium and NAS. The Spongeverse includes WhiskySponge, RumSponge, CognacSponge, ArmagnacSponge and WineSponge.

Nose : Beautifully bright and fruity. Citrus, green and yellow fruits balanced by honeycomb, aged mead, subtle waxy notes and impressions of green tea with citrus rinds and furniture oils.

Palate : Really impressive freshness and vigour even at 31 years. Great attack dominated by crystallised citrus and exotic fruits, oily cereal notes, waxes, light hessian and camphor notes and more impressions of fruit teas, delicate medicinal touches and then flower honey, mineral oils and golden syrup.

Overall : Long, on lemon barley water, malt extract, toasted cereals, waxes and herbal extracts with more dried exotic and green fruits.
