CARONI 1996 Guyana Heavy Trinidad Rum Paradise #6

Founded in 1918, the state-owned Caroni distillery closed its doors in 2002. Rarely bottled under its own name, the ‘heavy rums’ it produced have acquired a cult following among many aficionados for their unique character. Initially aged for twelve years in Trinidad and Tobago and then transferred to Guyana at Demerara Distillers, this version, called House in the Sun, has continued its maturation in dame-jeanne from 2019 in the Cognac region. Impressively long, its aromatic and taste palette is a succession of powerful images in which hydrocarbons and exotic fruits play a dominant role. It is also highly evocative, opening a cigar box and releasing divinely woody and herbaceous aromas.
