BUNNAHABHAIN 14 ans 2009 1st Fill Sherry Hogshead Connoisseurs Choice Gordon & Macphail

This Bunnahabhain, distilled in 2009, was aged for 14 years in first-fill sherry hogshead casks before being bottled at 57.6%. This unpeated Islay single malt has a rich, spicy character, with aromas of cinnamon, orange and liquorice.

Built in 1881 at the height of the Scotch whisky boom, Bunnahabhain is located in the north-east of Islay. Its distilling room houses two magnificent pear-shaped stills from which it produces a heavy spirit that is generally not peaty.

Created in 1968 by the great whisky visionary, ‘Mr George’ Urquhart, the ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ range now includes over 2,000 bottlings from around a hundred Scottish distilleries. The story of each Connoisseurs Choice whisky is told on the label, including cask type, bottling date, degree, vintage and tasting notes. Always non-chill filtered, these rare single casks and small batch expressions have been created using Gordon & MacPhail's unique expertise in marrying distillate and oak casks, passed down through four generations of the same family.
