BENRIACH 17 ans 2005 Refill American Hogshead Connoisseurs Choice Gordon & Macphail

This Benriach, distilled in 2005, was aged for 17 years in refill American hogshead casks before being bottled at its natural strength of 58.40%. This Speyside single malt has a delicious, complex profile, with aromas of almond, biscuit and pear.

Located in the heart of Speyside, BenRiach - which means ‘the weathered hill’ in Gaelic - was built by John Duff in 1898. BenRiach has all the traditional charm of a Speyside distillery. Like many Scottish distilleries, it has had a chequered history, closing its doors for 65 years.

Created in 1968 by the great whisky visionary, ‘Mr George’ Urquhart, the ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ range now includes over 2,000 bottlings from around a hundred Scottish distilleries. The story of each Connoisseurs Choice whisky is told on the label, including cask type, bottling date, degree, vintage and tasting notes. Always non-chill filtered, these rare single casks and small batch expressions have been created using Gordon & MacPhail's unique expertise in marrying distillate and oak casks, passed down through four generations of the same family.
