Ardmore is an ambiguous distillery. Located on the border between Speyside and the Eastern Highlands, Ardmore was established in 1897 just one year before the Pattison brothers went bankrupt. It has a character that, if you were to look at it blindly, would make it more of an Island malt than a Mainland one. It should be noted that between 1817 and 1835, another distillery bearing the same name operated on the island of Islay before being absorbed by Lagavulin. It's a heavy legacy, and one that's reflected in the distillery's DNA. Ardmore was first discovered thanks to trade bottlings, and for several years now has had its own 12-year-old bottling.
Produced from a selection of older casks with a high sherry content, the ‘100 proof exceptional’ range refers to the British system of measuring alcohol content, which corresponds to the famous ‘Navy Strength’. At 57.1% proof, this range highlights various distilleries, which express themselves with great intensity while retaining the aromatic richness typical of Signatory Vintage's ageing expertise. A range to take your tasting further and rediscover the ageing work of this independent bottler.
