CHICHIBU 2013 Single Cask Sherry Oloroso LMDW Cellar Book

Nose : powerful, large. The very concentrated initial nose is marked by typical sherry notes (roasted walnut, apricot, coffee, chocolate), strong spices (clove, nutmeg), aromatic plants (verbena, sage) and heady florals (lily, arum). Gradually, a chocolatey and sweet pastry malted barley confidently envelops the olfactory palette. Allowed to breathe, aromas of spice bread, pipe tobacco and lucerne make their way through a particularly heady atmosphere._x000D_<br>_x000D_<br>_x000D_

Palate : lively, full of character. On the attack, the sherry and malted barley play equal roles. Thus notes of porridge pairs perfectly with orange peel, candied apricot, freshly cut grass and wildflowers. Then, on the mid-palate, Corinthian raisins, figs and walnuts tumble onto the palate. The resulting shockwave introduces acacia honey, black fruit, toffee and a hint of incense. Magnificent.

Overall : long, smooth. The refreshing finish invites us to enjoy a cardamom tea or milky coffee. Next, malted barley escapes from its gunny sacks, tumbling across a floor spread with drying grapes. This strong imagery is immortalised by an equally spicy and chocolate retro-nasal olfaction. Through its powers of suggestion, the empty glass sends us back to the first aromas perceived._x000D_
