The Chichibu distillery celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2018. Today, the single malt produced by its owner, Ichiro Akuto, has become iconic. So much so that enthusiasts throughout the world literally fight over each new bottling. Remember that a 3-month old version bottled in October 2008 made quite an impression. This year, we invite you to discover four exclusive single casks. Beginning with this 2011 bourbon cask bottling which offers a multitude of small vignettes of flavours and aromas, each more expressive than the next.
Nose : fresh, well-balanced. Laid upon vanilla pods and freshly cut grass, malted barley grains appear alongside a variety of herbs (bay leaf, sage, verbena), spices (clove, nutmeg) and juicy white fruits (pear, peach). Allowed to breathe, the nose moves into sweet pastry notes (lemon tart, almond pastries) and becomes increasingly hot (Cayenne, paprika) and floral (gillyflower, French marigold). The palette of aromas is extremely mineral (manganese) from start to finish.
