CAOL ILA 17 ans 2006 1st fill Sherry Puncheon Connoisseurs Choice Gordon & Macphail

This Caol Ila was distilled in 2006 and aged for 17 years in first-fill sherry puncheon casks. This single malt from the Isle of Islay has a smoky, fruity profile, with aromas of orange, caramel and apple.

Clearly expressin a smoked malted barley profile, Caol Ila is also maritime, herbaceous, oily and peaty. The Caol Ila distillery's large, onion-shaped stills go a long way towards explaining the rather light, very fine character of this single malt.

Created in 1968 by the great whisky visionary, ‘Mr George’ Urquhart, the ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ range now includes over 2,000 bottlings from around a hundred Scottish distilleries.
