Ontake Distillery is located in the center of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, at an altitude of about 400 meters on a vast hilly area. With a view of Sakurajima (Mitake) floating in Kinko Bay, there is an abundance of transparent natural soft water that has been filtered and polished over many years, and the air is clear and cool even in the hot season, making it suitable for storage. , began the challenge of making whisky. Using yeast cultivated in-house, carefully selected two-row barley, and carefully selected old sherry barrels, we experience the depth of aging in which the flavor changes over time, and the clear unblended sake born from the blessings of the earth turns amber in color.
Now, a new whiskey has been born here at Ontake Distillery.

Ontake The First Edition 2023 is the inaugural single malt whisky release from the Ontake Distillery. This whisky is matured in old sherry casks, specifically first-fill solera sherry butts, which contribute to its unique flavor profile. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at an ABV of 43%, with a volume of 700ml. It is noteworthy that all whisky releases from Ontake are exclusively matured in these old sherry casks, which is a distinctive feature of their production process.

The presentation of Ontake The First Edition is also notable, with the whisky being packaged in a wooden box that carries the message "Have a great time with Ontake" on the inside, adding a personal touch to the experience of purchasing and enjoying this whisky.
