HELLYERS ROAD 19 ans Voyager Cask

Power and poise. One of Australia’s oldest and rarest single malt expressions, the Voyager balances rich fruit notes with noble wood and hints of citrus for a long and comforting denouement. American Oak maturation for 16 years then secondary maturation in a French Oak ex-liqueur cask for 3 more years.
A Voyager is someone who historically has been an explorer, spending extended time searching and discovering. The origins of Hellyers Road Distillery is no different. Built on the philosophy that every whisky is a new journey into the unknown, the voyage that our whisky embarks on while maturing, tells its own unique story.
The newmake for this exceptional single malt was matured in ex-Bourbon casks originally used in and shipped from America over 20 years ago. After 16 years of careful nurturing under the guiding watch of our Master Distiller, the whisky had indeed matured beautifully, exhibiting incredible notes of noble woods interwoven with butterscotch decadence. However, this was not the end for this single malt. Having sourced an incredible French Oak cask that was previously used for maturing liqueurs, our Master Distiller had another journey planned for this whisky. Laid to rest for another 3 years in French Oak, it drew additional layers of complexity with notes of caramelised figs and warming citrus, reminiscent of the finest aged cognac.
