DELOS C. Box

Delos is the second release from the "Extinct Blends" quartet, celebrating and reimagining the various Blended Scotch Whisky styles of the past. Delos follows in the footsteps of Ultramarine's sumptuous seascape, and takes its name from a Mediterranean island central to ancient Greek religion.
Delos was inspired by Asyla, one of Compass Box's "vanished" whiskies. The illustration derives from the meaning of the whisky's name, "asyla" being the plural form of "asylum" - a place of safety, sanctuary or retreat. The ideal refuge, and the image Compass Box had in mind, was a secluded, sunny island. After researching sanctuary islands, Delos was discovered.
Considered the birthplace of the god Apollo in Greek mythology, the island of Delos boasts numerous ancient sites, including mosaics.
Compass Box has reimagined the lute player on the original Asyla label as a mosaic. However, in this version, it's not a lute but a lyre she's playing, the instrument classically associated with Apollo. The contours of the tiles have been broken to reflect the coastlines of Delos and Greece. The visual ensemble is designed to be meditative, beautiful and calm, like Asyla herself.
