DEL MAGUEY Puebla

While the remote villages of Puebla have one of the oldest traditions of maguey distillation, the state was late in getting into the designation of origin, finally allowing it to be legally called Mezcal. Ron discovered the spirits of Ameyaltepec over ten years ago. From this semi-tropical valley in Puebla, where the roads are lined with scrub, izote palms and papalotes, you can see to the north the smoke rising from the volcanoes of Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl.
