CRAIGELLACHIE 13 ans Bas-Armagnac Cask

Initially aged for 13 years in American oak barrels (Refill Bourbon barrels), the whisky was then transferred to Armagnac casks from the Bas-Armagnac region.
Finishing is the cellar master's art of taking a whisky that has been matured for most of its life in one type of cask and placing it in another type of cask for a period of time to add more character to the whisky. The aim is to use this cask type to complement and enhance Craigellachie's signature, not to mask it.
That's why Cellar Master Stephanie Macleod carefully monitors the maturation and flavour development in each cask until the desired flavours are achieved, at which point the whisky is deemed ready for bottling.
