Dedicated to Balas 'Brigade' Bhaggan, who worked at the distillery for 14 years, this small batch of 6 casks aged entirely in Trinidad & Tobago invites us to discover Caroni in a more temperate light, a little less in the grip of hydrocarbon notes than usual. But rest assured: while the exaggerated, almost exuberant fruitiness and the fiery spiciness and medicinal character of the aromatic and taste palette are undeniably highlights of the tasting, the DNA of this particularly distinctive traditional rum has not been totally altered. The aromas of bitumen and the flavours of smoked meat and bacon are there to prove it.
