Shoman is the season in May when the weather becomes favorable : animals and plants begin to be filled with vitality due to the moist rain of blessings and grow vigorously. In the town of Akkeshi, the cherry blossom trees in Nenohi Park turn pale pink. Please enjoy the harmony of Akkeshi malt and grain while admiring the beauty of nature.

Shoman Blended Malt, which translates into the «Nature Thrives», is the eleventh whisky in the «24 seasons series» from the Japanese distillery Akkeshi located in northern Japan.

Shoman is the most rum cask-intensive blend coming from Akkeshi so far, but includes a diverse composition of bourbon, sherry, wine and mizunara casks.

Heavily Peated

Nose : Pineapple and other yellow tropical fruits emerge first, developping then on more peaty, almost incense-like notes of charcoal, grilled sausages, bacon and pancakes drenched in maple and honey syrup. Some fresh juicy muscat and delaware grapes shine through.

Palate : In constant evolution, the mouth is round, on typical Akkeshy flavours of smoke, honey, mango jam, lemon peel and herbs.

Overall : Incredibly fresh, with some acidity coming from citrus, as well as light heat of white peppers.
