For our penultimate Whisky Sponge bottling, we thought it would be fitting to revisit the distillery that started it all: Glen Moray. This is a small batch, multi-vintage bottling of Glen Moray, made my marrying together a refill hogshead of 1990 with a 2 nd fill sherry hogshead of 1992. The resulting mix has been bottled at natural cask strength, we think it’s a beautiful dram and a great demonstration of everything we’ve learned and tried to achieve over the past five years of bottling.

Decadent Drinks is an independent bottler of whisky and other spirits. Angus MacRaild - also author of the WhiskySponge blog - is the founder. Its philosophy is quality, fun and not taking life too seriously. This quirky side is reflected both in his blog and on the labels of his bottlings, which feature the sponge character in a wide variety of ways.
These bottlings, mostly single casks, are divided into different brands such as the Spongeverse, Equinox & Solstice, Equilibrium and NAS. The Spongeverse includes WhiskySponge, RumSponge, CognacSponge, ArmagnacSponge and WineSponge.

Nose : vividly fruity, waxy and beautifully mature. Lots of polished hardwood notes, soft spices, fruit cakes, crystalised green and exotic fruits, jams and then also beers, more waxes and slightly honeyed, dessert wine notes.

Palate : richly fruity once again, lots of dark fruits, quince, more waxes, hessian, cedar wood and resinous hardwood notes. Beyond that some herbal teas and delicate floral aspects. Wonderful complexity and detail.

Overall : long, resinous, waxy, fruity and warming with soft spices, flowers and citrus peel.
