Following the closure in 2000 of the Hanyu distillery founded by his grandfather in 1941, Ichiro Akuto bought back all the casks to make bottlings that will weave a close link between a magnificent past and an equally prestigious present: Chichibu. Made from the hand-malted Concerto barley variety, this 10-year-old version is resplendent with maturity. Its sunny, aromatic palette is punctuated by fruity, floral and spicy sequences that give it an irresistible charm.

Nose : rich, unctuous. An initial sequence of vanilla, fruit (apple, pineapple, green banana), honey (acacia) and herb (cut hay) immediately sets the tone. Spicy (cane, nutmeg) and floral (mimosa, broom) aromas follow.

Appearance : jaune doré soutenu.

Palate : ample, noble. Acidic (grapefruit), the attack is also malty (barley) and exotic (pineapple, kiwi). Finely liquoriced, the mid-palate is greedy (toasted bread). Then, fine chocolate flavors gradually coat the taste buds.

Overall : long, savory. Both malty and chocolatey, the start of the finish is in line with the palate. Infused with gentian and chamomile, the finish is remarkably fresh. Notes of dandelion underline the rural character of the palate.
