The Artist behind edition #1
Warren Khong
Made in Singapore
Born in 1984, Khong completed his university course in Fine Art in 2009: Painting & Drawing at Huddersfield University in England. On a quest for an eternal and absolute expression of beauty, Khong has been working on this subject for several years. Influenced originally by the contemporary art movement Superflat (manga and Japanese cartoon art), he then moved on to explore other ways of expressing this beauty. In 2010, he introduced text-image into his Deliberate Shapes work, which gave it new density.

BUNNAHABHAIN 1973
Over 35 yearsIslay Single Malt - 49%, 70 cl - Single Cask #12153 - Refill
Sherry Butt - Limited edition of 457 bottles
Exclusive to LMDWThis unique barrel was found at the far end of the new row of warehouses owned by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage on a freezing cold and rainy day in February 2011! Initially tasted at ‘local’ temperature, this Bunnahabhain of over 35 years of age seemed somewhat numb. It was only around a warming fire that its aromas started to loosen up the tongue and mind. Expressive and luxuriant.

Short Profile
Exotic fruit (pineapple, persimmon), citrus fruits (orange, tangerine) and beeswax. Flowers (peony). Cinnamon, cardamom, curry. Chocolate and cream.
Colour :
burnished gold with amber tinges.
Nose :
complex, fine. Malted barley, lime blossom honey and ginger follow apricot, gingerbread and coriander. Dynamic and round, it has a certain ‘old-school style’ about it. The second nose reveals distinct vegetal (fir, broom, hay) notes.
Palate :
full-flavoured, gourmand. With even more finesse, it faithfully reproduces the aromatic palette. Except this time it adds dried tomatoes and cardamom. Sherry has to content itself to playing second fiddle by adding mellowness and consistency.
Finish :
long, endless. The rustic character (in the best sense of the word) of Ben Nevis is highlighted with a lovely woodiness and fresh walnut. Its chocolatey and spicy (ginger) bitterness gives way to juicy fruit (Mirabelle plums, greengage plum) and notes of undergrowth (mushroom).

First Fill Sherry Butt - Limited edition of 520 bottles

Short Profile
///
Colour :
orangey copper
Nose :
rich, opulent. The malted barley is magnificently expressed here. It then takes on an oriental register, (Turkish delight, rose petals) before returning to more classic aromas. Autumnal (lichen, mushroom), precious (sandalwood, incense), floral (honeysuckle), spicy (black pepper, cumin) and fruity (cherry eau de vie).
Palate :
fine, distinguished. The malted barley remains the framework onto which the fruit (pear, tangerine) and spices (cinnamon, ginger) can fully express themselves. Develops into honey and flowers (lime blossom, mint) and dried fruit (apricot, dates). Gorgeously smooth, it shows great generosity.
Finish :
creamy, balanced. Its exoticism (mango, passion fruit) and mentholated freshness transcend the palate. A handful of dark fruits (cherry, blackcurrants, blackberry) add an Irish touch to this highly powerful single malt. Cut grass and notes of undergrowth mix with a discreet yet omnipresent sherry undertone.

Short Profile
///
Colour :
golden yellow with a green hue.
Nose :
bags of charm, precise. Unusually fine notes of peat are present. It then steers towards a spicy (cinnamon, cardamom) marine environment (salt, sea spray, shells), smooth medicinal notes (cough-sweet, castor oil), latte and coconut.
Palate :
lively, invigorating. The peat becomes bolder; its underlying notes profess unfailing devotion: the ash, smoke, damp straw, malted barley, coriander, cloves, both fresh and exotic fruits and white flowers.
Finish :
long, endless. Tar is the central theme here. But the palate is also flooded with coconut and green almonds. Its smoke is reminiscent of a strong havana while candied lemon, peppermint and lavender make up an extremely harmonious trio.
