Best known for its single malt, Penderyn - the only distillery in Wales - has recently begun producing an extremely fresh, fruity, spicy gin that is, of course, bursting with voluptuous, botanical notes, as its name suggests. The watercress leaves, bay leaves and lime blossom that emerge once the glass is empty give it striking authenticity. Added to this are notes of chervil, celery and parsley. The initial nose reveals notes of citrus fruit (orange, lemon), juniper and spices (pepper, cumin, coriander). It develops with nuts (walnut, almond), ginger, aromatic herbs and geranium. Fine liquorice gradually takes over the aromatic palette. The palate is fresh and perfectly balanced. The nose possesses great lemony freshness.
