BLANTON'S Single Barrel #7 - 60 ans LMDW

Nose : ethereal, lively. Delicious candied citrus fruits (orange, lemon) and dried apricots first rub shoulders with notes of vanilla and precious wood. In a very natural style, beeswax and multi-flower honey appears on the surface of the aromatic palette. Bourbon vanilla, chocolate, coconut and aromatic herbs (rosemary, sage) can be glimpsed in the background. Remarkably elegant, it becomes increasingly powdery (cocoa beans, rice grains).

Palate : taut and almost sinewy, it is also very delicate. Slices of apricot and nectarine begging to be devoured. Their deliciously sweet and tangy juices can then cover the taste buds. This truly fruity symphony then takes on more exotic (mango, passion fruit) and drier (fig, date) tones. The end of the palate is spicy (candied ginger) and vegetal (rhubarb).

Overall : long, balanced. The candied ginger, as well as a pleasantly fresh herbaceous note, links up with the palate. It lingers on to notes of pecan nuts, peanut butter and heady florals (hyacinth, peony). A very persuasive retro-nasal olfaction puts the spotlight back on maize. The empty glass is resinous, roasted and spicy (cardamom, cloves).
