Founded in 1898, Benromach was first closed between 1931 and 1937. Dismantled again in 1983, the distillery was finally purchased by Gordon & MacPhail in 1993. After undergoing a complete renovation, it then reopened in 1998. Being the first Benromach Organic to feature in La Maison du Whisky’s catalogue, this cask strength version was made with lightly peated (10-12 pm) Optic barley. Peppered with remarkably complex fruity and floral notes, the palette of flavours and aromas powerfully recreates the rustic and bucolic character of the Speyside region.

Nose : Full-bodied, concentrated. Superb notes of candied citrus fruits (orange, mandarin), lavender honey and melon are just some of the highlights of the very complex first nose. The floral (violet, lilac) palette of aromas then reveals elegant fragrances of beeswax and pine resin.

Appearance : Vieil or.

Palate : Firm, powerful. The expressive attack is tropical (mango, guava), velvety with delicate chocolate notes (cocoa powder). The rich mid-palate offers delicious quince jelly and flavours of freshly picked raspberry.

Overall : Long, silky. At first, the finish is softly malty, as new flowers (cornflower, carnation) release their subtle and enveloping scents. The generous finish then recreates the rich texture of morning porridge.
