Cordials

Cordials are sweet non-alcoholic liquids that are used in cocktails and other drinks. Produced from fruit juice, sugar and water, cordials often contain extracts of plants and roots, and spices. Less concentrated than syrups and with a lower percentage of sugar, they are used in the same way, usually diluted with water before being drunk, or mixed into cocktails. Cordials bring out the acidity of the fruit and the honeyed character of the ingredients used in their composition. In cocktails they bind the various other ingredients together.
