GLEN SCOTIA

Located in the heart of the former capital of whisky, Glen Scotia is today just one of three distilleries in Campbeltown to hold a whisky production licence. This town, located in the south of the Kintyre peninsula, was the ancient scene of what could be called the “barley rush”, and in the 1880s was home to some 30 distilleries, including Glen Scotia, which was founded in 1832. At the end of the 20th century, Glen Scotia was mothballed on various occasions (from 1984 to 1989 and from 1994 to 2000), leaving it, likes its counterpart Springbank, with many shortfalls in its stocks. Mostly available as a 12 year old official bottling.
