DALWHINNIE

Located at an altitude of 327m, Dalwhinnie is the highest operating distillery in Scotland. It is also where, in 1994, the lowest average temperature in the whole country was recorded: just six degrees! Gaining fame after being included in the Classic Malts selection, Dalwhinnie has in recent years suffered at the hands of the financial crisis and has just lost its place in the famous Classic Malts boxset alongside Oban, Glenkinchie and Cragganmore, who all suffered the same fate. Soft and honeyed with a characteristic and very dry finish, Dalwhinnie is almost only ever found in official bottlings. Find out more
