BROUGHTON ALES

Established in 1979 in the small village of Broughton, not far from the English border, Broughton Ales was the first Scottish microbrewery. Broughton Ales is particularly known for naming its beers after renowned characters in Scottish history. Each ‘beer with character’ was given names such as Jock Ale, Merlin’s ale, Black Douglas and so forth. Right from the start, Broughton Ales’ aim was to produce traditional craft beers, but also to constantly innovate and gradually reinvent the way its beer is produced.
