CARTE BLANCHE TO SAYCET
To mark the launch of its new collection New Vibrations, La Maison du Whisky has given composer and music producer Saycet carte blanche. Invited to the Isle of Arran by La Maison du Whisky, Saycet created Vibration, an original work inspired by the spirits culture. This original composition was created in Scotland, in the still rooms and cellars of the Arran and Lagg distilleries. Through this work, La Maison du Whisky shares an innovative artistic creation based on the culture of spirits.

Year after year, our Creations catalogue showcases a particular facet of La Maison du Whisky’s selec- tion process, highlighting our various inspirations, favourites, and discoveries. Titled New Vibrations, the 2024 collection has its sights firmly set on innovation and experimentation, and honours those who push the boundaries of the spirits industry.
From whisky to rum, cognac to sake, this catalogue comprises 230 items, produced by over a hundred distilleries between 1703 and 2022. Three centuries of history for your perusal, illustrated by the timelines which open each chapter.
Wide-ranging though it is, the New Vibrations collection remains focused on pioneers: young distilleries and nascent brands, yes, but also longstanding players in the industry – distillers, blenders, bottlers... Trailblazers in their time, these stalwarts have weathered the centuries through continual reinvention.
French whisky, whose fortieth anniversary we are celebrating with a new book published by Flammarion, is a perfect illustration of this lineage between ‘ancients’ and ‘moderns’. In a very real way, French whisky-makers are heirs to the ancestral distillation and maturation know-how of their respec- tive regions. While some wear their Scotch inspiration
on their sleeves, many seek to chart their own course by playing with grain varieties, still designs, and cask types.
New Vibrations – a title which also embodies one of La Maison du Whisky’s primary tenets since its founding, from the first Scotch single malts it imported in the 1960s to its exploration of all other types of spirits across the decades. In addition to being testing grounds in a very real way, our selections and our ranges are also the reflection of our varied influences and aesthetic sensibilities. For over 10 years, we have sought out painters, photographers, designers and more, building a perpetual conversation between artistic creation and spirits. This catalogue also emphasises our strong ties to the world of gastronomy – to which we have dedicated a full chapter, with Japanese sake given pride of place.
For the New Vibrations collection, we have ventured to untrodden lands, giving carte blanche to electronic music composer Saycet. From this collaboration, Vibrations was born: a powerful, dreamlike piece to score the discoveries held within these pages.
